Gonk Bedding

Gonks (or tomte, or nisse, depending who you ask) are the Scandinavian gnome-like folk who have become a British Christmas fixture. Ours turn up in three duvet designs: Winter Gonks, Gonk Family and Festive Gonks, plus a Festive Gonk cushion for the chair.

They are reversible, so you get a busier gonk side and a calmer coordinating side, which is useful when the novelty wears off around 2 January.

Gonk designs are busy by nature, so keep the rest simple. Plain red, grey or white sheets and pillowcases let the design do the work, and a chunky knit throw finishes it off.

For a kids room, go all in with the cushion and some fairy lights. For a spare room, the greyer Gonk Family design reads as festive rather than fancy dress, which guests tend to appreciate.

What is a gonk?

A gonk is the bearded, pointy-hatted Scandinavian gnome that turns up everywhere at Christmas. In Scandinavia they are called tomte or nisse, and traditionally they look after the household.
