What is brushed cotton bedding?
Brushed cotton is 100% cotton fabric that's been mechanically brushed to raise the surface fibres, creating a soft, slightly fuzzy texture (called a nap). The raised fibres trap warm air, which is why brushed cotton feels so much warmer than regular cotton the moment you touch it.
What's the difference between brushed cotton and flannelette?
They're part of the same wonderfully cosy family! Flannelette is generally brushed on both sides for maximum fluffiness, while brushed cotton may be brushed on one or both. In practice the names are often used interchangeably, and either way you're getting soft, warm, 100% cotton comfort.
Is brushed cotton bedding good for winter?
It's the winter bedding, in our humble opinion. The brushed surface feels warm immediately (no cold-sheet shock!) and traps heat beautifully through the night. Because it's pure cotton it stays breathable too, so you're cosy rather than overheated. Many of our customers switch to brushed cotton every autumn and count the days until they can.
Do you have brushed cotton Christmas bedding?
We certainly do! Festive favourites like our Reindeer Road and Alpine Patchwork brushed cotton duvet sets combine Christmas charm with that wonderful winter warmth. They tend to sell out as the big day approaches, so don't leave it too late.
How do I wash brushed cotton bedding?
Machine wash at 40°C or below with similar colours, then line dry or tumble dry on low. Brushed cotton often gets even softer with washing, which feels like cheating, but we won't tell anyone. Avoid high heat to keep the nap at its fluffy best.
